Amanda Alison

 

Amanda Alison is an experienced screenwriter and creator who has found particular success in comedy and children’s television. She is the creator and head writer of the sitcom Mean Mums, which began life as a pilot for Three’s Comedy Pilot Week which went on film to three seasons, and screen in Australia.

Her writing credits span from scripted comedy to family entertainment to murder mysteries - credits including Wellington Paranormal, teen dramedy Lucy Lewis Can’t Lose and numerous animated and children’s series such as The Moe Show, What Now, Darwin + Newts and The Exceptional Squad.

Amanda has also worked across formats as a story producer and writer on projects including Paddy Gower Has Issues and 7 Days. She has developed original animated comedy with DreamWorks Animation and currently has several television and feature projects in development.

Her work has received industry recognition, with Mean Mums and Lucy Lewis Can’t Lose earning nominations at the New Zealand Television Awards.

Amanda’s range - from sitcoms and sketch to genre and kids’ TV - marks her as a versatile writer with a strong comedic voice rooted in character and story.
